Here’s what you can expect in obtaining your certification:

  • Eligibility Check:

    Before beginning the process, individuals need to ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria set by the FMCSA for obtaining a CDL. You’ll need to be over the age of 18 and have a clean driving record. Commercial drivers are also required to pass a medical examination conducted by a certified medical examiner to ensure they meet the physical qualifications necessary for operating commercial vehicles.

  • Hands-On Training & Driving Practice:

    Hands-on training involves 120 hours of practical instruction under the guidance of qualified instructors.     • Pre-Trip Inspection

  • Pass the CDL Knowledge Test:

    After completing the training program, students must pass the CDL knowledge test, which assesses their understanding of commercial driving rules, regulations, and procedures. There are 50 general knowledge questions and 25 air brake questions on this exam.

  • Obtain CDL Learner’s Permit:

    Before taking the skills test, individuals typically need to obtain a CDL learner’s permit. This permit allows them to practice driving commercial vehicles under the supervision of a licensed CDL holder.

  • Pass the Skills Test:

    Following successful completion of the knowledge test, trainees must pass the CDL skills test, which includes a pre-trip inspection, basic vehicle control, and on-road driving assessment.

  • Apply for CDL:

    Once all the requirements are met and the tests are successfully completed, individuals can apply for their CDL at the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or equivalent agency.

  • Complete ELDT Certification:
